Our Story
This is Brian Sheppard. He is the face of Better Spaces Renovations. Our story begins with him.
Brian Sheppard has been involved as a hands-on worker his entire life. As a youngster Brian spent much of his childhood at his father’s side helping out in renovations projects, turning something old into something better. It was at this young age that he realized he had a passion for handy work and renovation. This happens to be a passion that still holds true in Brian's eyes today.
Jobs in a variety of construction and renovation areas followed. Brian worked for the City of London Ontario Engineer’s Department as a carpenter’s helper in the building maintenance department (carpentry shop) and on a cement crew. After this he went on to being a heavy equipment operator doing road construction in Mississauga. Upon settling in Ottawa Brian has worked as a house painter and handyman for a property management company and has done renovation work and new housing construction for a number of companies.
Brian's renovation work has not been limited to Canada or even North America. In Europe, he participated in restoration work, bringing old and historical buildings back to life. The work was as gruelling as it was rewarding. However, perhaps Brian's most honourable work was his efforts during his time spent in Africa.
After restoration work in Europe, Brian spent over a year in the African country of Zambia, where he worked in an orphanage that helped provide for Zambian kids in need. This was Brian's opportunity to give back, and the experience was remarkable.
All of these milestones led up to the creation of Better Spaces itself. In Ottawa in 2002, Brian Sheppard founded Better Spaces Renovations: a company with a mission to make space for something better, and to do it with honesty and integrity.
Better Spaces Renovations has a lengthy story, and we would love to make you a part of it.
